Orthotherapy is a novel clinical approach for management of orthopedic and neurological diseases through a combined application of kinesiotherapy and splinting. Orthotherapy offers improved rehabilitation that combines immobilization, limited mobility, and precise positioning of various orthoses.
Orthotherapy requires that several medical professionals (orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, occupational and rehabilitation therapists, and kinesiologists) collaborate during treatment of each patient. Such collaboration, combined with novel immobilization techniques and materials, results in an individualized treatment plan that benefits each specific patient.
The
Orthotherapy approach has been pioneered by a group of medical professionals with headquarters in St Petersburg (Russian Federation). Clinical innovations offered by ORTHOTERAPY Center include both research and treatment, and a wide variety of training seminars and hands-on workshops that are aimed at sharing our experiences in clinical patient management. The following educational steps are offered:
1. Express Orthoses: Custom molding of complex orthoses using Turbocast® Zip-line.
2a. Small Size Orthoses: Custom molding of small orthoses (finger, wrist, etc.) using low-temperature thermoplastic Turbocast®.
